দুুপুরের পর হিংসা সোনাইয়ে, একাধিক বুথে ভোট স্থগিত
Uproar & clash at Sonai, polling adjourned at many booths

৯ ডিসেম্বরঃ কাছাড় জেলার পঞ্চায়েত ভোটে ধলাইর চান্নিঘাট থেকে যে হিংসা শুরু হয়েছিল, সোনাইয়ে তা মাত্রাছাড়া রূপ নেয়। প্রতিটি ঘটনা পৃথক হলেও বেশ কটি মারপিট হয়েছে ওই বিধানসভা এলাকায়। বড় ঘটনাটি হয় উত্তর কৃষ্ণপুর এলপি স্কুলে। বিকেলে ভোট শেষের প্রহর গুনছিলেন সবাই। আচমকা ছাপ্পা ভোট দিতে ঢোকে একদল দুষ্কৃতী। এ নিয়ে কংগ্রেস-বিজেপিতে ধুন্ধুমার কাণ্ড বেঁধে যায়। লাইনে দাঁড়ানো সাধারণ মানুষও হামলার শিকার হন। বেশ কয়েকজনকে রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় মেডিক্যাল কলেজে আনা হয়েছে। এক মহিলার অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক বলে জানা গিয়েছে। কাছাড়ের পুলিশ সুপার রাকেশ রৌশন বিশাল বাহিনী নিয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছেছেন।

ছোট বাউড়িতেও বিকেলে কংগ্রেস-বিজেপির মধ্যে ঠেলাধাক্কা শুরু হয়। প্রিসাইডিং অফিসার বেলা ৩টা বাজার আগেই সেখান থেকে সমস্ত ভোটসামগ্রী নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পড়েন। কচুদরমেও গণ্ডগোলের দরুন ভোট স্থগিত রাখা হয়েছে। তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সমর্থকদেরও রেহাই মেলেনি সোনাইতে। মার খেলেন দক্ষিণ কৃষ্ণপুরের চারজন। তাঁদের মধ্যে এক মহিলাও রয়েছেন। সকলেরই মাথা ফেটেছে। এঁরা শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিতসাধীন। জখম শাহরুল আহমেদ লস্কর বলেন, আজ সকালে তিনি বোন-ভাগ্নেকে নিয়ে অটোতে চেপে ভোটকেন্দ্রে যাচ্ছিলেন। হঠাত তিন-চারজন যুবক অটো থামিয়ে তাঁদের মারতে শুরু করে। তৃণমূলের ভোটার বলে ব্যঙ্গ-বিদ্রুপও করছিল। শাহরুলের কথায়, পঞ্চায়েত সভাপতি পদে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী আফসর হোসেন লস্কর তাঁদের আত্মীয় বলে তাঁর জন্য কাজ করেছিলেন। তবে হামলাকারীরা কোন পক্ষের, তা তাঁরা বুঝতে পারেননি।

লক্ষীপুর মহকুমাতেও বেশ কিছু হিংসাত্মক ঘটনা ঘটে। জনসংযোগ সূত্র জানিয়েছেন, জেলায় ৬৬ শতাংশের বেশি ভোট পড়েছে। ব্যালট বাক্স এসে পৌঁছালে প্রকৃত ভোট-হার পাওয়া যাবে।

December 9: The acts of violence which occurred at Channighat area of Dholai in Cachar district during the 2^nd phase of Panchayat election in Assam assumed its ugliest form crossing all limits of civility at Sonai. A number of incidents of clash took place in many of the polling booths under Sonai constituency.

A major incident of clash took place at North Krishnapur Lower Primary School. It was almost the closing time of the poll. All of a sudden, a team forcibly entered into the polling station and proceeded to cast false vote. This led to a heated atmosphere between the supporters of Congress and BJP. Common people who were in the queue also became the target of violence. Many of the injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Some among them were profusely bleeding and were reported to be serious. The condition of a lady was learnt to be very critical. Police Super Rakesh Roushan has reached the spot with a huge police force.

At Choto Bauri too, minor clashes took place between the Congress and the BJP supporters. The Presiding Officer was unable to continue polling and became bound to leave the polling station with all poll materials before 3 PM. Voting was temporarily held up at Kachudaram centre also.

The supporters of Trinamool Congress were also not spared at Sonai. Four of them including one woman were physically abused at South Krishnapur area. All received severe injuries on their head and were profusely bleeding. They were immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College & Hospital. Shahrul Alam Laskar, an injured said that today morning, he was on his way to the polling station with his nephews in an auto. All of a sudden around 4 persons stopped the auto and started to beat them. They even criticised Shahrul Alam Laskar for being a supporter of Trinamool Congress. Shahrul Alam Laskar said that one of his relatives Afsar Hussain Laskar is a contestant for GP President from Trinamool Congress and so he canvassed in favour of his relative. He, however, was not sure that the miscreants who attacked him belongs to which party.

Incidents of violence were also reported from Lakhipur constituency. As per official sources, 66 percent votes were cast at Lakhipur. However, the exact percentage can be determined only after the ballot boxes are deposited by the polling teams.
