১৮ অক্টোবরঃ নির্বিঘ্নে প্রতিমা নিরঞ্জন সম্পন্ন করতে শিলচর সদরঘাটে ব্যাপক প্রস্তুতি নিয়েছে শিলচর পুরসভা ও কাছাড় জেলা প্রশাসন। নদীঘাটের বোটে রেলিং যুক্ত করা হয়েছে, কোনওমতেই যেন কোনও অঘটন না ঘটে। এ ছাড়া, নির্মীয়মান সেতুর দরুন বহুদিন ধরে সাধারণ মানুষকে কষ্ট করে পুরসভা ও বঙ্গভবনের সামনে দিয়ে চলাচল করতে হয়েছে। দশমীর দিনে গাড়ি ঘোরানোর কথা ভেবে এই রাস্তাটিকে ঠিক করে তোলা হয়েছে। ড্রেনের ওপর পুরো স্ল্যাব বসিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে।

কাছাড়ের জেলাশাসক এস লক্ষ্মণন বলেন, কোনও অশান্তি বা অপ্রিয় ঘটনার আশঙ্কা নেই। দফায় দফায় তিনি সংশ্লিষ্টদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করছেন, কথা বলছেন। নিজে গিয়ে সদরঘাট পরিদর্শন করে এসেছেন। তিনি জানান, বিসর্জনের জন্য সদরঘাটে যাবতীয় ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। কাল সকাল থেকেই বিসর্জন হতে পারে। গভীর রাত পর্যন্ত পুরসভাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে তারা এই কাজ সেরে নিতে চাইবেন। তবে কেউ কেউ পরদিন বিসর্জনের কথা ভাবলে তাঁর আর্জি বিকেলের দিকেই তাঁরা যেন আসেন। কারণ রাত জেগে কাজ করার ঠিক পরদিন খুব সকালে দায়িত্ব পালন কষ্টকর হবে।

Silchar Municipal Board and District administration has geared up for hassle free idol immersion on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami on 19 October. Railing has been fixed on the boat on the immersion ghat so that no untoward incident may happen. Further, the road near Banga Bhawan was not motorable since a couple of moths as the new bridge over river Barak is under construction. However, this particular road has now been made motorable so that after idol immersion, the vehicles can return back through this road. Slabs have also been put up over the drains.

Dr. S. Lakhsmanan, Deputy Commissioner Cachar has said that his entire team is all ready so that the immersion of idols is done in a disciplined way. He has personally monitored the situation at Sadarghat and has held round of meetings with officials of different departments. The officers and staff of Silchar Municipal board (SMB) are also working round the clock in close liaison with the district administration.
