2 militants die after being beaten up by locals at Harinagar

৩ নভেম্বরঃ হরিনগরে জনতার হাতে ধরা পড়া দুই জঙ্গির মৃত্যুই হল। গণপ্রহারের পর পুলিশ তাদের উদ্ধার করে জয়পুর প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্রে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল। সেখান থেকে বিকেলে নিয়ে আসা হয় শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে। শুরু থেকেই তারা অবশ্য মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে পাঞ্জা লড়ছিল। শেষপর্যন্ত সন্ধ্যায় শেষনিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করে। তবে তাদের শনাক্ত করা যায়নি। ধরা পড়ার পর জনতার কাছে একেক সময় একেক কথা বলছিল। পুলিশ যখন উদ্ধার করে, তখন অবশ্য তারা আর নাম বলার মতো অবস্থায় ছিল না। প্রথা অনুযায়ী, শনাক্ত করার জন্য তাদের এখন ৭২ ঘণ্টা মর্গে রাখা হবে।

কথায় বলে, রাখে হরি মারে কে। আবার উল্টোটাও শোনা যায়, মৃত্যু এলে কেউ ঠেকাতে পারে না। সাত বন্দুক সঙ্গে থাকলেও গণপ্রহারে মৃত্যু হল তাদের। বস্তা থেকে বের করে একটি বন্দুকও হাতে তোলার সুযোগ মেলেনি।

শনিবার সকালে এরা ডিমা হাসাও জেলার জঙ্গলঘেরা রাস্তা ধরে কাছাড় জেলার হরিনগরে পৌঁছয়। তিনসুকিয়ার বাঙালি নিধনের প্রতিবাদে বনধের খবর সম্ভবত তাদের জানা ছিল না। তাই গাড়ির জন্য ইতিউতি ঘুরছিল। তখনই বন্দুকের নল নজরে পড়ে একজনের।

পুলিশ সুপার রাকেশ রৌশন বলেন, বন্দুকের বস্তা বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে। ৭ বন্দুকের মধ্যে রয়েছে ৩টি একে ৫৬, ১টি চিনা এলএমজি। রয়েছে একটি পিস্তল, ১টি চিনা গ্রেনেড এবং ৬৬৯ রাউন্ড গুলিবারুদও। তবে এত আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র কোথা থেকে এল, কোথায় যেত, এর কোনও জবাব পুলিশ সুপারের কাছে নেই। তাঁর কথায়, তদন্তে সে সব বেরিয়ে আসবে।

November 3: The two militants caught by the people at Harinagar ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Police recovered the two from the hands of the locals and took them to Primary Health Care Centre at Joypur. From there, they were sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) today evening. Finally, both of them died at SMCH. After they were caught, the two militants fumbled with their replies and often changed their statements. When police recovered them, they were not in a position to speak anything. As per tradition, police has kept their bodies in the morgue, which will be there for 72 hours for identification.

The strange thing is that the said militants were beaten up by the locals’ inspite of the fact they had 7 sophisticated firearms with them. They did not get the opportunity to tack out the guns from the sack. However, on the flip said, many are of the opinion that, had they got the opportunity to catch hold of the guns, then there would have been a blood bath at Harinagar today.

On Saturday morning, they came to Harinagar in Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district of Assam on foot through the forest from Dima Hasao district. Most probably, they were not aware of the ongoing bandh or else they could have reached their destination boarding any vehicle. When they were waiting and searching for vehicle at the empty stand, locals spotted them. People suddenly saw the pipe of guns coming out of the sacks which they carried with them.

Police Super Rakesh Roushan told the media that the sacks containing firearms were seized by them. Out of the 7 guns recovered, 3 of them were AK 56, 1 Chinese LMG and 1 pistol. Further, 1 Chinese grenade and 669 rounds of bullets were also recovered. Police, however, were unable to tell the source from where these arms were procured or to which area these were to be delivered. He said that detailed information could only be given after proper investigation.
