সদরঘাট সেতুতে যান চলাচলে নিষেধাজ্ঞা
Sadarghat bridge to be closed for all vehicular traffic

২১ ডিসেম্বর : সংস্কারের জন্য শিলচর সদরঘাট সেতুতে ভারী যানবাহন চলাচলে নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করা হয়েছে। অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট এগজিকিউটিভ ইঞ্জিনিয়ার এনএইচ সাব-ডিভিশন শিলচরের পক্ষ থেকে জারি করা এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে শিলচর তথা কাছাড়ের জনগণের অবগতির জন্য জানানো হয়েছে যে, বরাক নদীর উপরে নির্মিত শিলচর সদরঘাট -রংপুর সেতুটিতে কিছু জায়গায় ফাটল ধরার ফলে দুর্ঘটনা এড়াতে সবধরনের যানবাহন চলাচলের ওপর আগামী ২৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৮ ইংরেজি থেকে ৭ দিনের জন্য  নিষেধাজ্ঞা থাকবে।

শুক্রবার জারি করা ওই বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে আরও বলা হয়, যদিও পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনায় ওই সেতুটির ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত স্থানের সড়কটির একদিকের লেন দিয়ে খুব সাবধানে ধীরে হালকা যানবাহন চলাচল করা যেতে পারে। জনগণের এই সাময়িক অসুবিধার জন্য কর্তৃপক্ষের তরফে দুঃখ প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে।

December 21: The Sadarghat bridge is in a deplorable condition and requires immediate repair. In a notification issued by the Assistant Executive Engineer of NH sub-division , Silchar, it was informed that several cracks were noticed in the Sadarghat bridge which required immediate repair. As such, for seven days from 27 December, the bridge will be closed for all vehicular traffic.

The notification issued on Friday further stated that light vehicles may be allowed to ply on one side of the bridge after taking stock of the overall condition of the bridge. The concerned authority expressed regret for the inconvenience which would be caused during this phase.
