Clash between ABVP & NSUI in Fresher’s Ceremony at Hailakandi, 10 students & policeman injured

২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর : কলেজের নতুন ছাত্রছাত্রীদের বরণ করতে গিয়ে এক ধুন্ধুমার কাণ্ড ঘটে গেল হাইলাকান্দিতে। দুই ছাত্র সংস্থার মারপিটে কম করেও ১০ জন আহত হওয়ার খবর পাওয়া গেছে। উন্মত্ত ছাত্ররা প্রতিপক্ষ ও পুলিশকে লক্ষ্য করে পাথর ছোডে। এতে দু’পক্ষের অনেকে জখম হয়েছেন। এদের মধ্যে হাইলাকান্দির এক পুলিশ কর্তাও রয়েছেন বলে জানা যায়।

হাইলাকান্দির এস এস কলেজে আজ বিকেলে নবাগত ছাত্রদের বরণ করতে শহরের রবীন্দ্র ভবন প্রেক্ষাগৃহে এক সভার আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। এতে সাধারণ পড়ুয়া সহ এবিভিপি ও এন এস ইউ আই-এর সমর্থক ছাত্ররাও উপস্থিত ছিল। হঠাৎ করে কোনও একটি বিষয় নিয়ে দুই ছাত্রের মধ্যে বচসা শুরু হয়। ক্রমে তা ছড়িয়ে পড়ে অন্যদের মধ্যেও। এন এস ইউ আই ও এবিভিপি ছাত্রদের মধ্যে তুমুল সংঘর্ষ আরম্ভ হয়। হাতে লাঠিসোটা নিয়ে কিছু ছাত্র মাঠে নেমে পড়ে। মুহুর্তের মধ্যে এক অভাবনীয় পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হয়।

সংঘর্ষের খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে যায় হাইলাকান্দি পুলিশ। তখন পুলিশকে লক্ষ্য করে ছাত্ররা পাথর ছুড়তে শুরু করে। এতে পুলিশ কর্মী সহ কয়েকজন ছাত্র আহত হয়। জানা গেছে, ছাত্রদের ছোড়া পাথরের আঘাতে হাইলাকান্দির ডিএসপি নির্মল ঘোষ আহত হয়েছেন। জখম ছাত্রদের হাইলাকান্দির এস কে রায় সিভিল হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। এ ঘটনার পর গোটা শহর জুড়ে চাপা উত্তেজনা বিরাজ করছে।

September 25: An untoward incident occurred at S.S. College, Hailakandi on Tuesday during the Fresher’s Welcome Ceremony. A conflict broke out between the supporters of NSUI and ABVP in which atleast 10 students were injured. The student associations started pelting stones at each other. They even threw stones at the police force posted there which resulted in the injury of even a policeman.

A ceremony was organized at Hailakandi Rabindra Bhavan in order to welcome the newly admitted students of S.S. College.the function was attended by the supporters of NSUI and ABVP along with the general students. All of a sudden, an alteration of words broke out between two students on some issue. Soon other students on both the sides became involved in this argument. Supporters of NSUI and ABVP stood face to face which ultimately took a violent form. Some students even came running with sticks in their hands. Within a very short time, situation became very grave.

On getting the information, huge police force reached the spot. At that moment students started pelting stones even at the police. As a result both students and policemen were injured. It was learnt that DSP of Hailakandi, Nirmal Ghosh was also injured by the stones. Those students who sustained injuries were admitted to S.K. Roy Civil Hospital, Hailakandi. The incident has resulted in escalation of tension in the entire town.
