Two persons arrested for stealing gold ornaments

১২ সেপ্টেম্বর : সোনার গয়না চুরির দায়ে পুলিশ দুই ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেফতার করেছে। ধৃত দুই ব্যক্তির একজন অলোক দত্ত এবং অন্যজন দীপন রায়। চুরি যাওয়া গয়নার মালিকের এজাহারের ভিত্তিতে তদন্তে নেমে পুলিশ এদের গ্রেফতার করে। তাদের কাছ থেকে চুরি যাওয়া গয়নাও উদ্ধার করেছে পুলিশ। আজ এদের আদালতে পাঠানো হয়েছে।

পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, গত ১৩ আগস্ট জনৈক সুব্রত কুমার ভট্টাচার্য শিলচর সদর থানায় একটি এফআইআর দায়ের করে বলেছেন, তার আলমারি থেকে স্বর্ণালঙ্কার ও কিছু নগদ অর্থ চুরি হয়েছে। এ ব্যাপারে তিনি তাঁর বাড়ির নির্মীয়মান দ্বিতলে কাজে নিযুক্ত রাজমিস্ত্রি দীপন রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ আনেন। গত কয়েক মাস থেকেই সে যে সন্দেহের আবর্তে রয়েছে তাও তিনি এজাহারে উল্লেখ করেছেন। তাঁর দায়ের করা মামলার প্রেক্ষিতে তদন্তে নামেন শিলচর সদর থানার ওসি।

পুলিশ জানায়, তদন্ত চলাকালীন সময়েই অভিযুক্ত তার রংপুরের বাড়ি থেকে পালিয়ে যায়। কিন্তু তা সত্ত্বেও হাল ছাড়েনি পুলিশ। গোপন সূত্রে অভিযুক্তের বিরুদ্ধে একে একে বিভিন্ন তথ্য সংগ্রহ করে। আর এভাবে প্রায় এক মাস পর সাফল্য পায় পুলিশ। মঙ্গলবারই পুলিশ তাকে গ্রেফতার করে। জেরা করার পর তার কাছ থেকে ১৪ গ্রাম ওজনের একটি সোনার হার উদ্ধার হয়।

এদিকে রাজমিস্ত্রি দীপন চুরি করা অন্য একটি নেকলেস বিক্রি করে দেয় অলোক দত্ত নামের এক স্বর্ণকারকে। প্রাপ্ত তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে পুলিশ ওই সোনারুকেও গ্রেফতার করে। এই স্বর্ণকারের কাছ থেকে পুলিশ চুরি যাওয়া ৩৩ গ্রাম ওজনের একটি চেন উদ্ধার করে।

September 12: Police nabbed two persons in connection with a robbery which took place in the month of August. The two persons arrested are Alok Dutta and Dipon Roy. One Subrata Kumar Bhattacharjee lodged a complaint at Silchar Police Station that gold ornaments and cash were stolen from his Godrej almirah. He named a mason Dipon Roy as prime suspect in his FIR. Dipon was working in his building as a mason since the past few months.

On the basis of this complaint, OC of Silchar Police Station started his investigation. Police sources revealed that during investigation, the suspect Dipon Roy fled away from his rented house at Rangpur. Inspite of this, police went ahead with their investigations. Finally, on the basis of secret information and technical support, police were successful in arresting Dipon after one month of the robbery. After interrogation, police recovered from him a gold necklace of 14 grams weight, which he stole from the house of Subrata Kumar Bhattacharjee.

During interrogation, Dipon further revealed that he has sold another stolen chain to Alok Dutta, a goldsmith. On the basis of this information, police arrested the goldsmith and recovered the stolen gold chain weighting 33 grams. Both the culprits were presented before the Magistrate on Wednesday.
