২৯ অক্টোবরঃ কুম্ভীরগ্রাম চা বাগানের লকআউট ইস্যুতে মঙ্গলবার ত্রিপাক্ষিক বৈঠক ডাকা হয়েছে।এর আগের দিনে শহরে চা শ্রমিকদের নিয়ে মিছিল করে সিট্যু নিয়ন্ত্রিত ভারতীয় চা মজদুর সংঘ। শিলচরের প্রধান পথ ধরে মিছিল এগোয় অফিসপাড়ায়। জেলাশাসকের কার্যালয়ের সামনে বেশ কিছু সময় বিক্ষোভ দেখানো হয়। পরে এক প্রতিনিধি দল জেলাশাসকের কাছে স্মারকপত্র দিয়ে লকআউট প্রত্যাহারের আর্জি জানায়।

তাঁদের বক্তব্য, অনেকদিন ধরে কুম্ভীরগ্রাম চা বাগানে ম্যানেজার-বাবুদের আচার-আচরণে শ্রমিকরা অতিষ্ঠ। ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে বাবুরা দেরিতে কাজ শুরু করেন। ফল ভোগ করতে হয় শ্রমিকদের। কাজ শেষ করতে তাদের সন্ধ্যা হয়ে যায়। অনেকদিন ধরে বলেকয়েও অবস্থার পরিবর্তন হচ্ছিল না। আলোচনায় এই সব বিষয়ই খেয়াল রাখতে তাঁরা জেলাশাসকের উদ্দেশে অনুরোধ করেন।আলাপ-আলোচনার মাধ্যমে কোনও সমস্যার সমাধানের পথে না গিয়ে মালিক পক্ষের লকআউট ঘোষণার তীব্র সমালোচনা করে ভারতীয় চা মজদুর সংঘের স্থানীয় নেতৃবৃব্দ।

October 29: A tripartite meeting has been convened on Tuesday to solve the crisis going on in Kumbhirgram Tea Estate. A day before that, on Monday, a rally was taken out at Silchar by Bharatiya Cha Mazdoor Sangha which is affiliated to SITU. Demonstration was also held in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. A delegation went to meet the Deputy Commissioner and presented a memorandum. They appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to intervene so that the Lock-Out ends quickly.

Later on speaking to way2barak, they said that the behaviour of the garden Manager and other officers was a cause of frustration for them since a long period of time. The officers intentionally started work at late hours. So naturally, work continued even after dusk. This was a matter of deep concern for the labourers. They have requested the management time and again to start work early in the morning. But all their appeals fall flat in the ears of the management. Further, the leaders of Bharatiya Cha Mazdoor Sangha criticised the role of the management for taking the decision of ‘Lock out’ without trying to solve the prevailing problems.
