Police Commemoration Day observed by BSF at Masimpur

২১ অক্টোবর : প্রয়াত নিরাপত্তা জওয়ানদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা অর্পণ করে পুলিশ স্মৃতিচারণ দিবস পালন করল বিএসএফ। মাসিমপুর বিএসএফ ছাউনির শহিদ স্মারক স্থলে মিজোরাম ও কাছাড় সীমান্ত ব্যাটেলিয়নের ইন্সপেক্টর জেনারেল কে সি মহালির নেতৃত্বে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে বিএসএফ জওয়ান ও আধিকারিকরা প্রয়াতদের স্মরণ করেন। এ উপলক্ষে এক প্যারেডও অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে ২১ জন অফিসার, ৫২ জন সেকশন অফিসার ও ২৩৪ জন জওয়ান অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

২১ অক্টোবর পুলিশ শহিদ স্মৃতিচারণ দিবস। এ দিন উপস্থিত জওয়ান ও আধিকারিকদের সম্বোধন করে কে সি মহালি এই দিনটির তাতপর্য সবার সামনে তুলে ধরেন। ১৯৫৯ সালে লাদাখের হট স্প্রিং এলাকায় টহলরত ২১ জনের সিআরপিএফ দলের উপর অতর্কিতে আক্রমণ চালায় চিনা সেনা। এতে ১০ জন প্রাণ হারান এবং বাকি ১১ জনকে আটক করে ফেলে তারা। তখন থেকেই ২১ অক্টোবরকে পুলিশ স্মৃতিচারণ দিবস হিসেবে পালন করা হয়। কর্তব্য পালন করতে গিয়ে জীবন বলিদান দেওয়া এই বীর শহিদদের প্রতি এ দিন সম্মান জানানো হয়।

ভারতীয় সমাজ ব্যবস্থা বৈচিত্র্যময় এবং এর একটি অনন্য সংস্কৃতি রয়েছে। কঠোর পরিশ্রম, এমনকি নিজের জীবন দিয়েও এই সংস্কৃতিকে রক্ষা করে চলেছেন পুলিশ ও নিরাপত্তা জওয়ানরা। দেশকে রক্ষা করতে গিয়ে এ বছর এখন পর্যন্ত ৪১৪ জন জওয়ান প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন। এই ৪১৪ জন শহিদের মধ্যে ৪২ জন বিএসএফ জওয়ান রয়েছেন, যাঁরা নিজের জীবন দিয়ে দেশের সীমান্তকে আগলে রেখেছেন।

আইজি কে সি মহালি এ দিন বিএসএফ-এর শহিদ জওয়ানদের নাম উল্লেখ করেন। ব্যান্ড সহযোগে এদের আনুষ্ঠানিক অভিবাদন জানানো হয়। তিনি জোর দিয়ে বলেন, সাহসী জওয়ান ও তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের উদ্যম ছাড়া এই দেশ কখনই গোটা বিশ্বের সামনে দৃঢভাবে ঔজ্জ্বল্য ছড়িয়ে বা সাহসের সঙ্গে দাঁড়াতে পারতো না। জীবনের মূল্য দিয়ে যাঁরা দেশের সার্বভৌমত্ব সুনিশ্চিত করেছেন, সুরক্ষা দিয়েছেন, তাঁদের শ্রদ্ধা প্রদর্শন করছে বিএসএফ।

October 21: On Sunday, Police Commemoration Day was observed at BSF cantonment, Masimpur. The parade ceremony organised at Shaheed Smarak inside the BSF campus Masimpur led by K C Mahali, IPS, IG, paid deep tribute to the martyrs. A total of 21 officers, 52 SOs and 234 jawans of BSF campus Masimpur were present and paid their homage to the martyrs.

In his speech, K C Mahali narrated the significance of the day. He said that in the year 1959, a CRPF patrolling party of 21 personnels was ambushed by Chinese Army in Hot Spring area of Ladakh in which 10 of them were martyred and 11 others were captured by Chinese Army. Since then 21 October is observed as police commemoration day to pay homage to police and CRPF personnel who have made supreme sacrifice by laying down their lives while discharging their duty.

He also stated that this year 414 personnel have sacrificed their lives during discharge of duties in defending the nation. Out of these 414 Martyrs, 42 BSF personnel laid down their lives while on duty at the altar of the nation. He laid the wreath and read out the names of all the departed heroes of BSF in the roll of honor followed by tribute of ceremonial guard and band. He urged upon all to live upto the expectation and not to allow the sacrifices of martyrs go in vain. These were the words with which K C Mahali concluded his speech: “When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.”
