Banks to remain shut on 21,22,23,25,& 26 December
December 20: It’s going to be tough time for the consumers as all banks would remain closed for 5 days in all probability on the last part of December. As of now, it was reported that the banks will remain closed on 21, 22, 23, 25 and 26 December.
The All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has given a call for strike on December 21 against Indian Banks’ Associations move to leave officers in scale IV and above out of the bipartite wage settlement ambit. December 21 being a Friday, the following day, that is, December 22 is fourth Saturday and banks will remain closed on that day. Further, December 23 is a Sunday and so banks will naturally be closed on Sunday. Banks will, however, remain open on 24 December (Monday). But again on the day of Christmas, that is, 25 December, all banks will remain closed. Further, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the umbrella unit for nine bank associations including AIBOC had earlier announced bank strike on December 26 against issues ranging from wage settlement and bank mergers.
This makes it clear that the consumers need to be extra cautious and complete their transactions well ahead so that they do not have to face any difficulty as the banks will remain closed for five days from 21 December to 26 December, except for December 24 which is Monday.
