ACTA meets new Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, felicitates him
May 11: A delegation of the Assam College Teachers’ Association (ACTA) met the new Education Minister of the state, Dr. Ranoj Pegu on Tuesday at his official residence. The delegation led by ACTA President Biswajit Bhuyan felicitated Dr Ranoj Pegu on getting the portfolio of Education Minister in the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet.
Later on Himangshu Maral, General Secretary of ACTA informed, “Today we met the Hon’ble Education Minister, Dr. Ranoj Pegu and felicitated him at his official residence. Dr. Pegu is familiar with ACTA and our Guest House which shares it’s boundary with the Tribal Guest House frequently visited by him. He assured us to look into our problems positively. We sincerely hope to see a value addition to the Education Department with his arrival.” Also present on behalf of ACTA were Dr Anupam Dutta, Assistant Secretary (Academic) and Dr. Ananta Pegu.
Ranoj Pegu represents the Dhemaji constituency in the present Assam Assembly. He was sworn-in as minister designate on Monday. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has allotted him the portfolios of Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (non-BTC) Minister in his Cabinet. Ranoj Pegu is the former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Missing Autonomous Council. He is a resident of Chauldhua Baligaon in Dhemaji district of Assam. As per Wikipedia, Ranoj Pegu, aged about 59 years has an MBBS degree from Gauhati Medical College.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. Along with him, 13 other legislators were also sworn-in as designated ministers by the Governor of Assam. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday allocated portfolios among the 13 Ministers.
