8 new corona cases detected on Wednesday; tally rises to 3,298 in Hailakandi

21 Oct: 8 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 3,298. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 8 positive cases, one has been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 677 swab samples were taken on Wednesday out of which 64 are under RT-PCR and 613:under RAT.

Altogether 1,915 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 3,201 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals.The number of active cases is 77. Eight COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 11 deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board. 41 COVID-19 asymptomatic persons are under home isolation.

Of the 28,354 RT-PCR samples taken, 25,851 have tested negative. Swab results of 176 persons are awaited. Altogether 99,585 swab samples were taken out of which 28,354 are under RT-PCR and 71,234 under RAT.
